Translating Portrait Characteristics of the Heroes of Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgenev into Chinese
Abstract
Works by Ivan S. Turgenev are a fertile material for comparative-stylistic studies, portraits of heroes are presented as self-valuable characteristics of heroes. The relevance of the article is determined by a deep interest in Turgenev’s creativity in China and is due to the need for a wide and comprehensive study of Turgenev’s works and the features of their Chinese translations. The article’s subject matter are fragments of portrait characteristics of the heroes in the novel Fathers and Sons, the specific use of the words face, eyes, nose, mouth, forehead, hair, hands, height and features of translating these lexemes into Chinese while taking into account the contexts in which they are used and the resulting contextual connotations.References
